Replacing Door Mirror Assembly

There are two ways to do this, easy and not quite so easy. If you have obtained a replacement mirror assembly that is already painted to match your car the whole assembly can replaced in a couple of minutes. Owners of the Classic and it's derivative models, have it easy they are all matt black. If you are only replacing the mirror glass this article is worth viewing as it shows how the glass is mounted.

Romoving the trim From inside the car remove this small trim - lift up to release the 2 small clips at the bottom, then pull out from the top clip.

Mirror Mounting

The mounting screws, the wiring socket and the top clip can be seen in this view.

Undo the wiring, support the mirror, and undo the the screws.

If replacing the whole assembly, assembly is the reverse of this.

Component Parts Because the mirror I purchased was in primer, the good guts from the new mirror needed to be removed ready to fit inside the old assembly.

Here are both mirrors broken down into component parts.
Threading parts back The new componets are feed back through the new outer trim. The motor housing needs to be unscrewed so that it can be fed through.
