Southport Members' Day - 21st August 2004

A Class Meeting, Southport

The Southport meeting was organised as a two part event the first being a meeting at The Park pub in Birkdale. The only people to arrive on time where John and Louise (JGM) closely followed by Mike and Junko (mykp) and Dibna, Paul (Chip Young), Tony, Gilda and Gwen (Tony) and Steve and Andrea (Admin) all of us after the 1pm stated deadline and 1:30pm convoy time. Southport was one big traffic jam on Saturday and I think we all got stuck in it in one shape or another. Tony and Steve had met on the way on the Wirral.

After brief refreshments at the Park, we headed towards the Promenade and Marine drive to park up for the main event. Being at the back I saw that there where quite a few curious looks as we all drive past nose to tail.

We parked up on the main car park just across from the beach and a few hundred yards from the pier and took our respective photos before going our own separate ways for a few hours.

I personally went for a paddle down to the beach; others went into town for refreshments and food.

We all arrived back at our cars at around 4pm and chatted for a while before presenting the car of the day which went to Paul with his Black A140 Picaddilly.

It was good to see the regulars again and a few new faces, hopefully the Gawsworth meeting will bring a few more people to the meeting.

Thanks to Mike for the article. More pictures in the gallery
